This blog is just a nice way for me to pass the time, and if anyone reading enjoys it too then that can only be a good thing ^_^ I’m currently a student at the University of Durham
, in County Durham, England.
My real name is Maria, but I almost always go by the name of ‘Alfirin’ when posting anything on the internet (or variations, such as my youtube account name being Alfirin9). For those of you who recognise it, yes – I’m a very big Tolkien fan. Also, I’m lucky enough to be learning Elvish ^_^ …I’m not very good at it though. In my mind, Tolkien is the greatest author of all time, except for C.S. Lewis. I know the Chronicles of Narnia seem to have been written with consideration for a younger reader than those who follow Arda, but being the only set of books to ever actually get an emotional response from me, the Chronicles of Narnia really do have to have the top spot. Especially a certain section of The Magician’s Nephew.
Being a complete geek when it comes to anime and science-fiction, you’ll be seeing a lot of posts that are heavy on geekery. There will also be many, many references to the wonder of My Little Pony. Beware, cute toy haters, beware!!!
The only other thing you really need to know about this blog is that you must defer at all times to The Bunny. You may or may not have noticed the little guy up in the top, right-hand corner – if you haven’t then I suggest you look now. The androgenous-looking bunny watches over this blog at all times.

I’ll admit to being pulled in by the Alfirin reference. An ex-girlfriend’s grandfather was a writer and a good friend of Tolkien’s. After he died and we were sorting through his stuff we found a signed first-edition copy of the Hobbit. I think there was an actual halo of light eminating from it.
